Sneak preview: Advice from Megan Gibbon, Senior Design Manager at Ennismore

Megan Gibbon spoke to ALHAUS magazine about her design process, inspirations, and her most valuable advice for aspiring designers.

With creativity you can find inspiration anywhere – you can see something you like, question why it works, and always take something away from it.

Collaboration is my biggest piece of advice for someone who wants to be more creative. If they’re feeling a bit stuck then they can bounce ideas off someone else, maybe someone with a complementary trade or skill set that they can take on to create something new. I also recommend getting out there and keeping your eyes peeled for little bits that you can put into your design.

It’s inspiring even to just look at different paintings and see colours that really work together. With creativity you can find inspiration anywhere – you can see something you like, question why it works, and always take something away from it.

It’s quite a hard road. You do have to work for little or no money at first to get yourself somewhere that you like. Once you do go through the couple of years of slog it really is so worth it. My advice is to keep on putting yourself out there.
