Hop scotching her way to the top

Georgie Bell holding a glass of whisky to her mouth

Spirits specialist Georgie Bell is a self-proclaimed ‘full-time whisky traveler’. At only 30, this enviable position is thanks to her eminent and hard-earned reputation in the spirits industry.

Having previously worked with Diageo and The Scotch Malt Whisky Society after an early career of cocktail bartending, Georgie’s current role is Global Malts Ambassador with Bacardi where she endeavours to raise the profile of the firm’s five single malts (Aberfeldy, Aultmore, Craigellachie, Royal Brackla, The Deveron).

As a rare female in the luxury spirits sector, Georgie is keen to dispel the myth that whisky is a man’s drink, perpetuated in part by male-orientated advertising. She teamed up with Becky Paskin, editor of Scotchwhisky.com, to challenge outdated perceptions of the stereotypical whisky drinker with a campaign that promotes equality and inclusiveness; they want women across the world to share a photo of themselves using the hashtag #OurWhisky.
