Showing Irish tourism to the world
Ireland's impressive tourism brands will be on show at Virtual Meitheal 2021, with operators from the Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland's Ancient East, Ireland's Hidden Heartlands and Dublin all part of the showcase.
Buyers will discover unique experiences like Atlantic Sheepdogs and Mount Congreve Estate Garden and find out just how many layers there are to an Irish holiday programme.
Ireland now abounds with storied destinations, user-friendly cycling greenways, interactive visitor attractions and immersive activities. While global travel remains severely restricted in 2021, the connections forged this month will set the wheels in motion for rich travel experiences for international visitors in years to come.
By making new contacts and having the chance to interact with buyers, Irish partners are able to extend their reach into markets all around the world. Experiences like Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI) and Athlone Castle Visitor Centre are entirely unique to Ireland and help to tell the ancient island's legendary stories in visual and entertaining ways.
Spectacular holiday destinations (ranging from country estates like Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort to unusual options like the Ringfort House at The Irish National Heritage Park) can tell their stories and showcase their facilities at Meitheal to tour operators and online travel agents — the people responsible for putting the Irish tourism product in the global show window.
“Meitheal, Ireland’s biggest travel trade event, which is now in its 46th year, is an extremely important event for Irish tourism businesses, as it connects so many top international buyers and tour operators across the world, all seeking to learn more about what Ireland can offer their customers,” said Oonagh Kelly, Trade Fams and Platforms Manager at Fáilte Ireland.
“For the second year running we have had to hold this event virtually, but our Irish tourism businesses are acutely aware that it is vital to take the time to start reconnecting with international business contacts and securing business for next year and beyond. While we know this is all the more challenging to achieve with new ways of doing business, we are confident that everyone attending will have an interesting and productive few days.”
Around 19 countries and regions will be represented at Virtual Meitheal 2021. They include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Global Inbound, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States of America.
With the international tourism industry dramatically impacted by the restrictions of COVID-19, sowing the seeds of a fruitful future for Irish tourism is even more urgent. As Virtual Meitheal 2021 approaches, Irish partners are looking forward to forging new relationships and bringing their products to the world.
